14 questions

We film ~18 questions and edit the best into a 60-second Hit. Here’s the complete, unedited Q&A.

Q1

What's your name and what are you known for?

Tj Power. I'm a neuroscientist that's built an idea called DOSE — Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphins.

Q2

What health advice would you give yourself 10 years ago?

Significantly reduce the alcohol consumption. Alcohol doesn't let you access your dreams. When the alcohol goes down, everything gets a lot better.

Q3

What's in your gym bag right now?

Parallettes and gymnastic rings. That's it. Calisthenics — handstands, muscle-ups.

Q4

What does your morning routine look like?

No phone in my room. Daughter on my chest. 45-minute hike. Breathing exercises. Lumie sunrise alarm to wake up.

Q5

Favourite brands in health, wellness, fitness?

I like Lumie sunrise alarm clocks — they're essential. And Healf.

Q6

One supplement you can't live without?

Magnesium before bed. Only supplement I take. Minimalist approach.

Q7

What's the next big thing in health?

Social media fasting. Three days without seeing a social media app. Right now, that's a very uncomfortable experience.

Q8

How do we get there?

Software on the phones. I work with a company called Roots that actually blocks the apps — not like remind me later.

Q9

Worst health advice you ever followed?

I'm not convinced we should be doing so many cold plunges. They're very stressful on the body. For someone under stressed, cold is amazing. But I was burning myself out anyway.

Q10

Tech you use daily?

I make my laptop my main piece of technology. I don't use my phone as my contact point. Binned my AirPods. Don't believe we should even own headphones. I'm going anti-tech.

Q11

What's your health goal this year?

Move through life slower. Optimal performance comes from a calmer system.

Q12

Who should everyone follow or what should they read?

Jay Shetty — biggest guide in my career. And the book Hunt, Gather, Parent. A 7-year-old in a hunter-gatherer tribe was providing 50% of their own food.

Q13

One trend in health and fitness that you think is BS?

We shouldn't be drinking caffeinated drinks. Full stop. Maybe one coffee, but we shouldn't mass consume caffeine.

Q14

Dream sauna lineup?

Bryan Johnson. He's really misunderstood. He has a deeply philosophical understanding of humanity.
